Radio FreefallI stumbled upon Radio Freefall by Matthew Jarpe at the library recently. It isn’t a new release, I hadn’t been familiar with the author, and I can’t recall ever hearing about the novel. So, naturally, I checked it out immediately, knowing nothing but what the flap copy said – this this was a cyberpunk story with rock and roll, AIs, and technology. And you know what? It was a lot of fun.
Captain Harlock Space Pirate: Dimensional Voyage Vol 1Captain Harlock Space Pirate: Dimensional Voyage is a retelling of Captain Harlock. Billed as a good place to start from for those who haven’t read the original series, I planned to put that to the test. And, yes, I can say with certainty that this was a good place to start from. While I know the general concept of Captain Harlock, I have not read the original manga, so I was going into this rather blind. I never felt lost or left behind. The manga really does do an excellent job of introducing the world and its character’s to a new audience.
Null StatesIf you enjoy political thrillers, near future science fiction, or cyberpunk The Centennal Cycle is a series of books for you. Null States by Malka Older sees the infomocracy fraying at the edges, world peace threatened, and an assassination take place in a new micro-democracy.
I made it! I completed the OWLs Reading Challenge!
Honestly, I wasn’t sure I was going to complete the five categories needed to ace my OWLs. I didn’t read quite as much this month as I did through January, February, and March, and I finished the last two books on the very last day of the challenge. This was tons of fun, though. I loved the premise of the challenge. I really had to search through my shelves for books that would fulfill some of the categories. While I didn’t read something for all of the categories, I did have books lined up for almost all of them and do still plan on reading them at some point in the near future.

The Themis Files wraps up with the soon to be released Only Human by Sylvain Neuvel, a story about giant robots and aliens, but also of family, love, and human nature.
Tomorrow's KinThere is nothing quite as satisfying as finally finishing a book you’ve had your eye on at the library. It’s an almost mystical experience – on one hand you know that book will always be there, until, that is, the exact moment you go to check it out at the front desk and it’s inevitably been borrowed by someone else only a few short days ago. And so begins my tale of reading Tomorrow’s Kin by Nancy Kress, the first book in the Yesterday’s Kin Trilogy.

Cutie Honey a Go Go!I was intrigued when I saw another Cutie Honey manga was going to be released. Honestly, I’m always intrigued when another edition of an older franchise has been released. So I got my hands on a copy as soon as I could to see what the latest incarnation of Cutie Honey was all about. Cutie Honey a Go Go! is a new standalone manga in the Cutie Honey franchise by Go Nagai, Itou Shinpei, and Anno Hideaki.
An Unkindness of GhostsIt has been a very long time since any book has made me want to pick up my old quote journal and copy lines down. The journal isn’t pretty. It’s not one of those moleskin bullet journals, just a pocket sized notebook an old teacher gave us with some inspirational quotes after high school graduation. I’m not sure where it is now. I never thought I’d go looking for it again. But An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon made me want to dig that notebook out and copy down lines right from chapter 1.
